Retaliation

In our english class a few months ago, we were discussing the war in iraq. one or the discussion points was, was it a good idea to enter iraq after 9/11? one girl, asked everyone who was upset after the attack to raise their hand. i asked before raising my hand, by raising our hand does it mean we want to reataliate or does it mean we were simply upset and saddened? she replied, where you upset? with more emphasis. so everyone raised their hand including me. then she said see thats why we went to war, everyone was upset and the government had to do something. therefore as we all know it was retaliation(even though we retaliated against the wrong people thats another story) so there i was looking like an idiot because she twisted my words to look like i wanted retaliation but not violence. when really, i was upset but didnt think we should retalliate. retaliation is just human nature. i do not see how we can become a peaceful world until everyone can over come the emotion of retaliation. the emotion of being hurt or upset triggeres the emotion of retaliating. when we can over come the want to hurt some one like they have hurt us. i dont mean just when we get bombed by another country but when a sibling makes us mad, some one starts a rumer, you get cut off by the other car on the road. war is nothing but seeking revenge on the other party.

well thats all i have for a little while. i will be leaveing for boston tomorrow so i'll be not updating for a few days.

yes it is human nature, but i dont believe that makes it right. its like goin on a diet or something, you must learn to fight that emotion and and life style. its not easy at all and im not saying everyone will stop thinking violent thoughts one hundred percent of the time, but we learn to control the emotion instead of let it take over.
